What is a bridal shower? Is that where the wedding registry takes place?
I’m trying to understand the whole point of a wedding registry and a bridal shower. With a baby shower the mother sets up the registry and the attendants purchase the gifts on the registry list to bring to the shower. Is it the same way with a bridal shower and a wedding registry?
A few months before your bridal shower, you pick a store (or two or three) and set up a registry. This is a detailed list of everything that you would like to get. It helps friends and family to pick things that they know you will like, that will go with the decor of your house, and that will be unique. This way, no one gets duplicate gifts because presents that have been purchased are indicated on the registry.
The bridal shower is, essentially, a party to celebrate your upcoming wedding and an opportunity for your family and friends to give gifts that will help you out in your marriage. These guests use the registry and, often, refer back to the registry when they are looking for a wedding gift which is given on the actual day of the ceremony.
